So I'm writing a post to help answer some of those questions. And first let me say, I am NO EXPERT!! I've only been homeschooling for 3 years. But I have done EXTENSIVE research on curriculums and different learning/teaching styles. My children right now are 6, 3 and 20 months. I'm going to copy and paste bits and pieces of conversations that I've had with people. So sorry if it's a bit choppy... But the general information will be there. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Just starting out:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am very passionate about homeschooling and am excited to hear that you are considering it!! First, I want to recommend a book for you to read. It's THE BEST BOOK you could possible read on homeschooling in my opinion. It covers just about every question you could have. From stereotypes people believe, to how to defend your decision to others who think you're silly for homeschooling, to where to start with what curriculum to get.... Different teaching/learning styles.... Lists of really good literature to read with them. It's GREAT and literally covers everything!! It's called Educating the WholeHearted Child by Clay Clarkson. <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1932012958/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1359642223&sr=8-1&pi=SL75" x-apple-data-detectors-result="0" x-apple-data-detectors="true">http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1932012958/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1359642223&sr=8-1&pi=SL75</a> </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I would start there. And you can also look into the Charlotte Mason method of teaching. It's what we do and I truly believe is the BEST way to homeschool. I think that <a href="http://www.amblesideonline.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="1" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.amblesideonline.com</a> might be a free curriculum guide (not sure) but I've heard good things about it. We use <a href="http://www.simplycharlottemason.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="2" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.simplycharlottemason.com</a> and it is a free curriculum guide. Just search around that website. It'll recommend the curriculums/books and ages to start everything. Reading good, richly worded books are very important also. You want to read above their level. It'll help them to learn new vocabulary. Charlotte Mason called the dumb down books "twaddle" for example... "see spot run, he had fun" would be "twaddle" you want to stay away from that. Because they don't benefit anything from that. It doesn't paint a picture in their imagination. Anyways, the book list is good that is on simply Charlotte mason. Also there is a good one in the book I recommended. Sally Clarkson, is GREAT!! You will really like the book. Above all right now, read read read to your kids. It is so important at their age. Let them explore outside. Encourage their imagination. If you don't have a lot of books, go to the library. They are free lol. And I order a lot of books off of <a href="http://www.youronlinebookstore.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="3" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.youronlinebookstore.com</a> and <a href="http://www.thriftbooks.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="4" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.thriftbooks.com</a> they are both free shipping and sell used books. No more than $4!! Also, look into five in a row. I think it's <a href="http://www.fiarhq.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="6" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.fiarhq.com</a> it's a full curriculum in itself. It uses really good books and you learn about different things just from the stories you read. But definitely try the simply Charlotte mason website. And I strongly recommend All About Reading and All About Spelling for your reading/spelling and Math U See for your math. You can google those for the site. Above all, you want to make "school" fun. The joy of homeschooling it that you can do it they way YOU want to do it. Learning is not confined to a desk as we were taught by going to public school. Make it fun. Do hands on stuff. Throw out the idea of sitting out and doing book work. Encourage her to WANT to learn new things. If she asks you a question about something, stop what you are doing and go look in up. Research it with her. The main goal isn't to have a really smart kid (of course that is nice lol) but to cultivate a love of learning so that whenever they need to know something or want to know something they will be encouraged to look into it and find out themselves when they are older. And READ READ READ to them. Also, they have a homeschool convention in the woodlands <a href="x-apple-data-detectors://7" x-apple-data-detectors-result="7" x-apple-data-detectors="true">August 1-3</a>!! It's free for you since she is so young and you are just starting. It helped me SO MUCH when I was just starting out. Google Texas Home School Coalition. Or Texas homeschool family convention.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How much does it cost to homeschool? :</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It completely depends on what curriculum you choose. I kind of piece mine together. I spent between $600-$800 for this school year. (I used some of our income tax) But I got a TON of stuff that I didn't HAVE TO HAVE but wanted... And had the extra money to splurge. Like extra books and quite a lot of puzzles and manipulatives and things. (i have a 6yr old, a 3 year old and a 20 month old) You can homeschool pretty cheaply actually. And most of your stuff you can reuse for future children. You might just have to buy an extra workbook when their sibling starts school. For preschool there are tons of cheap/free curriculums you can do. <a href="http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="8" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com</a> and <a href="http://www.homeschoolcreations.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="9" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.homeschoolcreations.com</a> and <a href="http://www.mamajenn.com/" x-apple-data-detectors-result="10" x-apple-data-detectors="true">www.mamajenn.com</a> just to name a few. Tons of free printables. Plus you have the library for your source of literature. I buy all of my books used (in like new condition) for CHEAP!! Also don't hesitate to ask for learning games/manipulatives/puzzles for birthdays and Christmas!! It doesn't sound very fun, but I have an entire school room full of awesome things that the kids enjoy playing with that is educational!! If you look into it, you can homeschool for very little cost. Look at a group called homeschool for free... Or something like that on Facebook they might have some recommendations. Also, you can google that phrase and it'll bring up blog articles that people have written on the subject. To give you an idea, my daughter's curriculum roughly:</div>
<div>
Math- $65 (and we reused the $35 manipulative block set from kindergarten)</div>
<div>
Reading-$100</div>
<div>
Spelling-$30 (and we reused our manipulative set from last year that was $30)</div>
<div>
Character Building book (talked about different biblical virtues) $10</div>
<div>
Science was between $10-$20 (can't remember without looking it up)</div>
<div>
History/geography $15 I think</div>
<div>
Artist study-$10</div>
<div>
Classical music study- we use the CD that came in my son's preschool program</div>
<div>
My son's preschool program was $60 I believe. It's from My Father's World google that for the website. I also use All About Reading Pre-Level 1 with him which was pricey... Around $100 I think. But I LOOOOVE the upper levels we have done with my daughter. It is THE BEST reading/spelling program!! I use both of those curriculums together and will do so over the next two years. We wasn't even three when we started. So I'm not rushing anything. But that gives you a good idea of $$$. You can pretty much use library books for every other subject other than math/reading/spelling. Spend your money on getting those good solid curriculums and use the library for everything else 😊 </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also do hair on the side and sell bows/dresses/crafty things I make to earn extra money to buy extra things. But like I said, I almost never but new books. Find cheap used books websites that offer free shipping. They sell "like new" condition books all the way down to just "fair" condition. Aside from Amazon, I normally don't pay more than $3.99 for my books. But again, the library is a great resource that is FREE!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
How long does it take each day to homeschool? :</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For preschool... No more than an hour. And you can break that up. Don't spend more than 20 mins on a subject. You will lose them after that and the idea is to make learning FUN!! If they dread "school" at this early of an age, if will be a nightmare the rest of the way. You want them to be a motivated learner. Follow your child's cues. If he/she isn't digging the let's sit down and write our alphabet time, then come back to it when they are ready. When I had my third child, I had 3 kids 4yrs and under. My third child is now 20 months and LITERALLY THE BUSIEST CHILD EVER!! I know every mom says that... But if you could only see this child... Lol. I just used their nap times to do school with Sailor (my oldest). Now that they are older (6,3,20m) it takes just about all day. But I am doing Kindetgarten and first grade work with Sailor who can read, but not well enough yet to do stuff on her own. And I do preschool with Casen and I chase Avenly around picking up puzzles that are only a quarter of the way done because the girl doesn't sit still long enough to even focus on what she has in front of her... She's plotting her next adventure/destruction/victim 😉</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This year is most definitely my hardest because of their ages and because Avenly (20m) is CRAAAAAZAAAAY into everything!!! And she is recently potty trained on top of that so it's back and forth to the potty frequently. So it takes us just about all day. But that includes breakfast, snacks, lunches nap times, teaching/training/disciplining, tantrums/meltdowns, chores/cleaning... Some days we don't get as much done and other days we get a ton done. I follow their cues... We don't have anywhere else better to be/anything else better to do. I don't rush it. They are only this young once. We have fun learning. It's my job to teach/train/raise them and it's their job to learn. It's what they do best. If you didn't formally teach them a thing, ever, they would still learn just from book exposer and conversation. Just like you don't have to teach a baby to talk. They do it naturally. My advice is to fit "school" in where you can right now. But don't sit her down and say, come here, were going to do "school". Just say, hey let's do this activity... Weather it's a puzzle, coloring, reading a book, going outside and paying attention to nature, tracing her letters. Whatever. School doesn't have to be sitting for 8 hours in a desk doing book work. And in my opinion it shouldn't be. All children up to age 8 are completely hands on learners. They do TERRIBLY with sitting in a desk for any length of time. Which is why SO MANY kids are labeled ADD/ADHD. It's just not their learning style. But when forced to, they crumble, hate school and get put on a bunch of unneeded medications. My point is, throw out everything you think "school" is. Because when you think school... Sitting in a classroom at a desk all day is the first thing that comes to mind. There are a ton a teachable moments through out your day. Just follow her cues... Don't spend more than 20 mins on a subject and at this stage in your life, with a newborn, fit it in where you can. Use nap times to work with her 😊</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'll add to this list of questions as they come. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also, just FYI. I'm not the perfect wife and mother. I'm not the perfect homeschooler. I'm a sinner. Saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. I'm ashamed to admit I lose my temper almost daily. It's something I'm working on with God's help. Life is hard right now. I don't get a lot of sleep. I have a little man in the house that has meltdowns like none other and a toddler that swings from the ceiling fans. I don't want to paint this idealistic picture for everyone that isn't true. Life is hard. Life is hectic. But when isn't it? Homeschooling is hard. But it's WORTH IT!! To know that I raise my children. To know that I teach and train my children in the truth and love of Christ. It's is hard. Yes. But I stop and remember, my children are healthy, I have a husband who loves and supports me. I have salvation in Christ. What more could I want. In the end, when I feel like I'm going to lose it, when I feel like I'm about to have a meltdown because I've asked Sailor to complete her math page 10 times and Casen is throwing a fit because he wants a drink and didn't realize his drink in on the table because he couldn't hear me tell him where it was because he's screaming so loud, all the while Avenly is playing in the toilet... I say I myself CHOOSE JOY. This is what daily life looks like for us. But it's what I'm passionate about. Being there for those little moments when my son can tell me that I'm a "good girl" because I baked him yummy cookies. And being there when my daughter reads her first book. And knowing that I DID THAT!! I taught my child to read. And being there when my tiny little Birdie picks up my Bible and says "Bye-bow" for the first time. Being there to serve them in the love of Christ. It makes all the hectic days worth while. </div>

I just ran across this new bolg and I LOVE the idea behind what this lady has started! It's basically an encouraging accountability group that sends a little encouraging message each morning to everyone in the group once they have finished their quiet time and Bible study for the morning!! I LOVE IT!! I know how hard it can be to get up EXTRA early in the morning... when the baby has been up all night, when you're not feeling your best, when you're 31 weeks pregnant and you feel like you've just tossed and turned all night ;) or when you work inside the home and DON'T actually have to be up and ready to go somewhere!! I KNOW!! I'm living all of these things right now, lol!! But it really has been rewarding for me to get up each morning, while it's still dark, while it's peaceful in my home, and open up my Bible and allow my Father to speak to me. It REALLY helps me set my attitude for the day, so I can set our home's attitude for the day :) But ladies, it's SOOOO much easier to do these things when you know there is someone else doing it with you!! It really helps having that extra encouragement from others.<br />
<br />
So, I'm inviting YOU to join me in starting a Good Morning Girls group!! If you would like to join in, please leave me a comment below and let me know by leaving your email address and what method would work best for you, (ie. text message, facebook, email) What I love about this idea is that you don't have to live close to each other to be a part of the group!! That's the great thing about technology :)<br />
<br />

Crazy how time flies. He's not a huge talker (of the English language anyways), but he's SUPER smart!! Knows everything we tell him. I'm curious to see how he does when little Neener gets here... think he might be a TAD bit jealous. Which will be different because the Ladybug never was jealous when Cooc arrived!<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyways, we went outside to play and I got a couple pictures of them both :) I heart them so much!!<br />

But I've really been wanting to get back at it!! So to catch up the 2 followers that I had 3 years ago... We've had another child... a baby Boy named Casen! He's 18 months and is a little firecracker!! Constantly moving, on the go, getting into things, eating dirt, climbing things he shouldn't, LOL, and I'm soaking up every minute of it! God had a plan for us when He blessed us with Casen!! I was super scared to have a little boy, but I'm so glad that my Heavenly Father knows better than I do!! And to add to our fun and excitement we've been blessed with over the last 5 years, we are expecting another bundle of joy in May!! So I've been pretty busy making and raising babies in the last several years ;)<br /><br />I wanted to start blogging again to to give a little sneak peak into our lives for our family and friends that live so far away from us! I've been homeschooling Sailor for the past year in Preschool, and plan to start Kindergarten with her in the fall. Also going to start Tot School with The Cooc as well!! (For those of you who don't know, Casen=Cooc... a nickname from the big sis!) And adding a newborn on top of all of this... I'm honestly not sure WHY I want to take on keeping up with a blog too, lol. Call me CRAZY!! We'll see how long it lasts ;)Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-39390723097337847052008-09-16T21:01:00.000-07:002008-09-16T21:19:13.733-07:00Ike UpdateWell as most of you know, Hurricane Ike hit our area this past friday night/saturday morning. We actually just got off the cruise ship ready to go home, and got stuck in the Galveston evacuation traffic!! Then we were off to get some storm supplies and food from the store... which ended up consisting of 2 packs or water some pretzels, pop-tarts, and oreos!! WE WERE READY TO "SURVIVE", lol! EVERYTHING WAS GONE!! There was not one loaf of bread in the store!!<br /><br />We were soooooooooooo blessed!! Our house only had a little limb damage, lots of leaves everywhere, and little hole on our roof! We looked down our street and saw soooo many houses with TONS more damage! One man lost ALL his trees in his yard.... they were all up-rooted with the soil still attached!! There were power lines laying all over the roads and one lady had her plumbing up-rooted when her tree fell over!! And there were tons of people with their roofs completely blown off!! PRAISE GOD for watching over our home!!<br /><br />We don't have any power of course, but we are very fortunate to be able to stay with my parents!! They had a generator and could plug in a small a/c and the refrigerator!! Their power come on the very next day.... so we really only "roughed it" for like 24 hrs!! THANK YOU JESUS!! It's hard not having any electricity with a toddler!! So we've moved in with my parents temporarily!! They say that our power won't be on until OCTOBER 5!!! YIKES!!Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-63653088541345354552008-09-16T17:00:00.001-07:002008-09-16T21:00:53.494-07:00We're ALIVE!!!It's been FOREVER since we've posted anything.... But rest assured, all is well in the Lane household! Our computer broke a while back making it extremely difficult to post anything, but the problem is fixed praise the Lord and I can rejoin the blogging world!! I've taken some time to make some slide shows so you can see how our cute little Sailor Bug has grown into a sweet little girl!! She's so smart... it's hard to even think of her as a toddler these days (let alone my little baby), because her vocabulary is so extensive and so is her little personality!! Everyday she says things that just make us go WOW!! We are staying with my parent's (Christina's parents) due to our power outage back home resulting in hurricane Ike. The other evening my mom was holding Sailor and she asked Sailor, "Sailor, do you know how much I love you?!" Sailor looked at her and as serious as could be, proceeded to tell her Nana (while nodding her head), "Yep, I know that!!"...then put her hands up in the air and said, "I don't know why!!" I was laughing so hard when she said that, I couldn't even stand up!!<br /><br />Sailor Bug is weighing in at about 21 lbs these days!! She's average height, just really skinny! 50% for height, 3-5% for her weight!! She's in anywhere form 0/3-6 bottoms and 6-12 month tops!!She can say her ABC's, she loves to sing songs... some of her favorites are Jesus Loves Me, Tinkle Tars (twinkle twinkle little star), and some silly songs you guys have probably never heard of before! She can count from 1 to 10.... just not in order!! I really don't have the heart to correct her either, cause it's so stinkin' cute!!! She LOVES "jumping" (when I say jumping, it's more like skip/hopping... she still can't quite get both of her legs off the ground yet!!) off of anything!!! ANYTHING!! If we're walking and the level of ground changes even by a couple of inches... we have to stop everything we do and count... "1-2-5-7-8-2-9-1... JUMP" it's the CUTEST thing!! Don't worry, she'll have the correct order by the time she goes to school, lol! Basically, there's not really anything that she can't say! She talks in complete sentences now. It might take her a minute, because if she gets caught up in her words, she starts her entire sentence over until she gets it right!! She's a very determined little girl!! I love her so much and it has been so much fun growing into a rambunctious little girl!! The energy this child has is CrAzY!! She definitely keeps me and Cameron on our toes!! I hope you enjoy these slide shows!!<br /><br />She was 16-18 months in this slide show:<br /><div><embed src="http://widget-12.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782132072978&site=widget-12.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132072978&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p1/216172782132072978/un_t059_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132072978&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p2/216172782132072978/un_t059_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132072978&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-12.slide.com/p4/216172782132072978/un_t059_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><br />This was our trip to Garner State Park this year! I was packign the night before we left (so please excuse the mess) and Sailor found this baithing suit and wanted to wear it! So I put it on, onlly to discover it's about 2 sizes too small!! She was waaayyyy to tall for it, so it exposed her little boobies.... but she didn't care and would not stand for me to take it off!! So she wore it for quite a while!! I almost died when I looked over and saw her wearing my high heels!! It was so FUNNY!! I promise, as she gets older I will discourage this look!!<br /><div><embed src="http://widget-6c.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782132079980&site=widget-6c.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079980&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-6c.slide.com/p1/216172782132079980/un_t014_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079980&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-6c.slide.com/p2/216172782132079980/un_t014_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079980&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-6c.slide.com/p4/216172782132079980/un_t014_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><br />And finally, these are our cruise pictures:<br /><div><embed src="http://widget-1c.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782132079900&site=widget-1c.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079900&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-1c.slide.com/p1/216172782132079900/un_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079900&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-1c.slide.com/p2/216172782132079900/un_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782132079900&map=F" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-1c.slide.com/p4/216172782132079900/un_t016_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide42.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div>Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-23004280866013596172008-05-12T20:45:00.000-07:002008-09-16T20:56:35.739-07:00Sailor Bug is a Big Girl TodaySailor tee tee'd in her big girl potty for the first time today!!! I think I'm gonna cry!! I can't believe we're gonna start potty training her already!! I wanted to take a picture, but I thought that might be kind of weird to post, lol!!Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-56652924534462542012008-03-24T19:59:00.000-07:002008-03-24T20:01:27.121-07:00He Is RisenWell this weekend was Sailor’s first time to hunt Easter eggs!! More importantly, we celebrated the ressurection of our Lord, Jesus Christ!! He has given us an amazing GIFT through His death on the cross... ETERNAL salvation for our souls!! One day Cameron and I will walk side by side with our Heavenly Father and it is our deepest prayer that Sailor will come to know Christ as her Savior at an early age that she too will walk beside Him when we get called home!! I was studying this past week about God’s love for us. His love is agape love. It means that it’s completely unconditional. No matter what we do He will still love us!! He loved us so much that He died on the cross for us! To forgive us of our sins. That we may accept this free gift and live in His kingdom with Him forever and ever!! How undeserving we are of this love.... but He gives it freely anyway!!<br /><br />Cameron and Sailor and I went to Matagorda Friday night to celebrate Easter with Cameron’s parents on Saturday. Justin and Erin were there also! It was so much fun! Our little ladybug hunted Easter eggs for the first time!! She’s such a big girl!! She did a great job. She would pick up an egg and hold it until we got to the next egg and then she would throw the old one in the basket!! She did this over and over! It brought tears to my eyes. She’s growing so fast! She now says: "All Done!"... "More?"... "Please?"... "Thank you."... "Welcome."... "That."... "I love you"... and "Coca"( this is for any kind of food or drink. It origionally started out for cookie but somehow transulated to anything that goes in her mouth period!) Praise Jesus that he blessed us with this sweet Sailor Bug!!<br /><br />We wern’t able to go to church Sunday because Sailor has been very ill! We were worried that she might catch something else with her immune system being so low. She’s gotten sick the last 4 times we’ve been to church with a major illness :( So we thought we would give her a rest... unfortunately it happened to be on Easter Sunday :(<br /><br />We went to Creg and Jennifer’s house Sunday afternoon. We had a HUGE meal and hunted some more Easter eggs! It was a blast! Haven and Sailor were adoreable!! Little Twins!!<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><embed src="http://widget-7c.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782129930876&site=widget-7c.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129930876&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-7c.slide.com/p1/216172782129930876/un_t021_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129930876&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-7c.slide.com/p2/216172782129930876/un_t021_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div>Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-4824943635288354362008-03-19T19:28:00.000-07:002008-12-09T12:28:39.453-08:00Blue Eyed Girl- Turned Pink<div><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I-o5KKbz1x0/R-HO3LGgJWI/AAAAAAAAAuA/k7KwlplZ4nA/s1600-h/IMG_0506.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179648493720970594" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_I-o5KKbz1x0/R-HO3LGgJWI/AAAAAAAAAuA/k7KwlplZ4nA/s320/IMG_0506.JPG" border="0" /></a></div><div> </div><div>I woke up this morning feeling a little alarmed. It was 10:30! Did I sleep through Sailor waking up? I checked her monitor... the sound was up! Huh! I got out of bed and did a couple of things around the house. At 11:30 I started to get worried about her. I went in to check on her and the above picture is what I found. I let her sleep for a little while longer, because I just thought she was REALLY tired! When she still didn't wake up I went in to wake her up myself. I thought something might not be right because for the last several months she's been getting up around 8:30 or 9. When she got out from under the covers her poor little eyes were very swollen and red. And they were oozing yellow/green pus out of them. I was so sad. I knew something might be wrong, and it was! I called Cameron and then I called the doctor. Unfortunately her pediatrician left the office at 11:30 and wouldn't be back for the rest of the day! I had an appointment with my own doctor today at 1:30 so I just brought Sailor with me and had my doctor look at her eyes. He said immediately that it was pink eye!! :( He gave me some <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">eye drops</span> for her and she should be well in about 8 days!! God is so good!! I didn't have to pay extra for her at the doctor's visit!! It's so sad to see her little eyes like this. Please pray that she will recover quickly and that Cameron and I won't get it!! I really want everyone to be healthy for Easter!!<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5179650396391482738" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; CURSOR: hand; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_I-o5KKbz1x0/R-HQl7GgJXI/AAAAAAAAAuI/Uhlwl4nSAzE/s320/IMG_0509.JPG" border="0" /></div>Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-54642789546686300322008-03-18T18:21:00.000-07:002008-03-18T21:48:17.236-07:00OUR CRAZY, CRAZY LIFE!!So this has got to be like a record or something!! I can't believe that I have't blogged in almost 4 months!! First, I send my appologies to everyone! I know you have all been waiting for some Sailor updates for some time now! I have veen wanting to update it for so long, but it just doesn't seem like there are enough hours left at the end of the day to do so! Thank you to everyone for being patient with us!<br /><br />Sailor Bug is 15 months old now. She will be 16 months on the 25th of March. Let me just start off by saying that her personality is quite a bit larger than she is! She has started putting 2 words together now. She says thank you, welcome, bye-bye, hello, hi daddy, hi mommy, NO-NO-NO, and she will try and repeat any two-syllable word. She makes animal sounds for a dog, a cow, a pig, a rooster, a sheep, and a duck. It is so amazing how much she already knows. She hums her abc's and can say A-B-C-D but then starts over!! Just in the last week and a half I find myself being amazed at things she's doing. I think, "She is alot smarter than I think she is!!" She gives the BEST hugs and kisses you could ever receive from someone. She hugs our necks so tight that it almost chokes us ;) She's still pretty small... And being sick hasn't helped any. She's between 18 1/2 and 19 lbs. She started walking about a week before Christmas! She's still in 6-9 month clothes but we have her in a forward facing carseat! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT!! We turned her around the last weekend in Febuary when we went out of town on a road trip. We were in the car for 6 hours Friday night and Cameron didn't think she would do very well facing backwards the whole trip. So he went and bought a new carseat. When we pulled out of the driveway she said"WOOOAAHHHH" It was the cutest thing! She's about one pound shy from actually being able to turn around to face forward but she is very average for her height, so her poor little legs were curled up in her infant carseat and they don't make any convertible carseats (ones that face forwards and backwards both) that go up to 100lbs. So we made the decision!! She still rides in the infant carseat when we take Cameron's truck, so we don't have to buy another one right now. And the only time she basically goes anywhere is right down the road to church several times a week!! She is so much fun to be around. She talks constantly. Cameron and I contineously are cracking up at her because she will look at us and speak utter gibberish and be as serious as she can be!! The poor thing... she has something so serious to tell us but we haven't a clue of what it is. I can't wait for you guys to see her!! It's been so long since I've posted anything so I'm going to catch you up on the last 4 months... so hold on tight!! Here we go:<br /><br />We were basically out of town for most of December! With Cameron out of town hunting, on business trips, going to see my brother (TJ) in Oklahoma, and Christmas with all of our family.... we were looking forward to returning to a "normal" family in January.... that didn't happen like we thought it would!! But here's a little slideshow of our Christmas with our little Sailor Bug.<br /><br /><div><embed src="http://widget-86.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782129878662&site=widget-86.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129878662&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-86.slide.com/p1/216172782129878662/un_t062_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129878662&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-86.slide.com/p2/216172782129878662/un_t062_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><br /><br /><br />On to January... still hectic, because Cameron had to do quite a bit of traveling for work! I turned 24 on January 7! WOO HOO! I'm almost halfway to 30!! hahahaha! I also started my own business with Arbonne.... so that kept me quite busy, and has continued to do so. It's been alot of fun though, I really am enjoying it! So if anyone is interested in anything, just let me know. I'm also still doing Thirty~One as well. Since having a 15 month old full-time, cutting hair part-time, working a part-time handbag company and a part-time health and wellness company I decided to keep a 9 week old baby girl full time!! Now you can see why I've been a little behind on updating the blog!! We also started a Bible study at my home on Monday mornings! My friends Lacey and Jennifer come and we study the Word and just enjoy each other's fellowship! God has blessed me so much to give me such sweet Christian girlfriends in my life!! I love you ladies ;-*<br /><br />Febuary wasn't much diferent... I was going to make a slide show of Febuary pics for Valentine's Day... but I just realized that I haven't downloaded the pictures yet!! Oops. Sorry! We got to go the my cousin Sarah's wedding!! That was sooo much fun! We stayed with Sarah's sister Emily and got to meet Kari (Emily's little baby girl) for the time. B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L baby girl!! She was born 3 days after Sailor's birthday! It was such a blessing to get to see Emily and Corey again. The baby girl that I am watching is named Kayleigh. I started watching her at the beginning of Febuary. I was very nervous about how Sailor was going to react to her. Sailor is VERY clingy so I was worried that she would be jealous, but she LOVES Kayleigh! She kisses her and rubs her head all day long! She calls her baby. Every morning when I go to get her out of her crib and we start down the hallway to go to the livingroon, she points to the livingroom and says "BABY" with the biggest grin. She gets very disappointed on the days that she's not there! I feel better to know that when Cameron and I decide to have our next child that Sailor will react very well :)<br /><br />March has already been full of events!! Two weeks ago we had to take Sailor to the hospital with a 104.7 fever. She couldn't talk or move. The only thing she could do was just lay on the and stare in space. It was one of the scarriest things I've ever been through! It breaks your heart when you can't make your baby feel better. Once we got to the hospital Monday night they took her back through the first part of triage and gave her motrin, on top of already having tylenol. Then we were able to go back to a waiting room where it was just us. Praise God for the lady that worked at the front desk. She was a mom! She could tell how uncomfortable I was to have Sailor around all the people that were in the E.R. It was PACKED!! And then two police officers escorted in a man in handcuffs and chains!! AAHHHH!! So the lady let us go back to a secluded room. We waited there for a little over an hour. Sailor's fever came down completely and she was running all over the place with her daddy. Then a lady was walking through our waiting room and told us that they wouldn't even be taking anyone back for another 2 hours! What?! So Cameron and I decided to go talk to the people at the front desk. He told us that it would be more like 7-9 hours because they were so full. So since Sailor was feeling better we decided to take her home. If we were going to have to wait that long we wanted to be comfortable. When we got home I checked her temp and it was 98.6! Praise God!! And since they didn't take us back past the first part of triage we didn't have to pay for anything!! She slept with us that night... well, she layed down in our bed anyway.... we didn't get much sleep that night. She woke back up with a 104 fever!! But I gave her more motrin and that brought it down to about 102. We took her to the doctor the next day and all she had was a fever virus. There was nothing they could do! She wasn't fever free until Thursday. She also had a sever runny nose! It has not gone away and now she has a horrible cough! I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who prayed for us during this time and I ask that you would please continue to pray for her that she will knock this cough out and she will be well again!! It's so hard to know what to do. She sounds horrible when she coughs, but I don't think that the doctor will be able to do anything for her. I just think she's trying to break up all of the drainage. Please pray that the Lord will give us wisdom as to what to do!<br /><br />We took her to the rodeo last weekend for the first time!! She loved it! We went into the petting zoo and she was so cute will all the animals! She wanted to pick all of them up! She kissed a goat on the butt too! She wore the sweetest little pink cowgirl boots!! Here are some of the pics from Rodeo Houston '08:<br /><br /><div><embed src="http://widget-08.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782129879304&site=widget-08.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129879304&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-08.slide.com/p1/216172782129879304/un_t056_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129879304&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-08.slide.com/p2/216172782129879304/un_t056_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><br /><br />These are some pictures of Sailor playing on her Swing Set that we bought her for Christmas. She was also playing with one of her friends Jordyn who came over to visit her. The Sunglasses pictures are because she CAN'T STAND when the sun is in her eyes... and the little shade protecters that you can buy to attach to your car windows don't work!! It always seems to peer through the part of the window that isn't protected!! We also celebrated Cameron's 28 Birthday! His birthday was on Wednesday but we went out for a little surprise party with some of our friends from church Sunday evening after service! We also took a picture with the Easter Bunny. We were leaving walmart Sunday afternoon and the pictures were free, so I went to set Sailor in his lap... and she FREAKED!! So I had to sit by him with her in my lap. In her defense, He didn't look kind of scary. I was actually a little afraid sitting by him. His head was just so small, it seemed weird :-S The other baby girl is a picture of Jilian. She is one of Sailor's friends and I'm also watching her now on Tuesdays and Thursdays!! I'm a busy woman y'all!!<br /><br /><div><embed src="http://widget-63.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782129880419&site=widget-63.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129880419&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-63.slide.com/p1/216172782129880419/un_t059_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&at=un&id=216172782129880419&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-63.slide.com/p2/216172782129880419/un_t059_v000_s0un_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><br />I'm looking forward to celebrating our Risen Savior this coming weekend! I hope you all have a very blessed Easter! And I will be back with an update on how Sailor's first Easter egg hunt went!<br /><br /><br />P.S. For those of you that have a myspace, I've started one. Can you believe it? She is a toddler now :) This child is so amazing. She is full of giggles, grins, and soooo much personality!! I am just in awe when I watch her. It's so funny talking to her because she talks back.... in a totally different language ;) My mom just watched her talking on a toy cell phone.... it seemed that she was saying something pretty important.... then she paused as if to let the person on the other end of the line have a chance to respond..... then she started saying something else. It was hilarious! She's so smart!! It's cool to hear her repeat things too. She says "Good Girl", "Ho Ho Ho", "Uh-Oh", and "Bad"... for when we yell at the dogs..lol! I also love that she gives us kisses! She's the coolest little kid EVER!! She's not walking yet, but she's VERY close. She can absolutely walk by herself, she is just too afraid. But she took like 5 steps toward my dad on Friday night! She is soooo close!! Cameron is out of town and he won't be back until next weekend and he keeps saying that by the time he come home and walks through the front door that she will walk over to him... but I'm not so sure!! She's just too scared to let go. She practically RUNS when she's holding on to something though! We go to the doctor tomorrow and find out if she weighs any more.... and hopefully she will be able to get off formula!! That would be GREAT for us, because MAN, it is EXPENSIVE!! Next we need to get her potty trained, so we can cut out the expense of having to buy diapers!! LOL. She weighed 17lbs.10oz. when I took her to the doctor last Wednesday!! Hopefully she will weigh more tomorrow. The poor kid wants to be in a forward facing carseat SSOOOOOOO bad :( I have put together a slide show for her birthday. We spent it at my parents house. I also have a video of us singing happy birthday. She doesn't seem really happy in the cake pictures because we had just woken her up from a nap, she was still tired!!<br /><div><embed src="http://widget-ec.slide.com/widgets/slideticker.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" quality="high" scale="noscale" salign="l" wmode="transparent" flashvars="cy=un&il=1&channel=216172782127936748&site=widget-ec.slide.com" style="width:426px;height:320px" name="flashticker" align="middle"></embed><div style="width:426px;text-align:left;"><a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&ad=0&id=216172782127936748&map=1" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-ec.slide.com/p1/216172782127936748/un_t021_v000_a000_f00/images/xslide1.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a> <a href="http://www.slide.com/pivot?cy=un&ad=0&id=216172782127936748&map=2" target="_blank"><img src="http://widget-ec.slide.com/p2/216172782127936748/un_t021_v000_a000_f00/images/xslide2.gif" border="0" ismap="ismap" /></a></div></div><br /><center><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=9,0,0,0" width="425" height="381"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dropshots.com/dropshots.swf?p=1&u=http://media3.dropshots.com/photos/276176/20071125/071310.flv&l=http://www.dropshots.com/sailorlane#date/2007-11-25/07:13:10&d=1" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" /><embed src="http://www.dropshots.com/dropshots.swf?p=1&u=http://media3.dropshots.com/photos/276176/20071125/071310.flv&l=http://www.dropshots.com/sailorlane#date/2007-11-25/07:13:10&d=1" wmode="transparent" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="sameDomain" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="381"></embed></object><br /><span style="font-family:arial; font-size:8pt;"><a href="http://www.dropshots.com/">Photo Sharing</a> - <a href="http://www.dropshots.com/">Video Sharing</a> - <a href="http://www.dropshots.com/">Share Photos</a> - <a href="http://www.dropshots.com/">Free Video Hosting</a></span></center><img style="visibility:hidden;width:0px;height:0px;" border=0 width=0 height=0 src="http://counters.gigya.com/wildfire/CIMP/Jmx*PTExOTY2MzY1NzI2MjYmcHQ9MTE5NjYzOTA*OTY4OCZwPTEyNTIxJmQ9Jm49.jpg" />Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3161706727404208244.post-70354571779806437852007-11-24T21:37:00.000-08:002007-11-24T22:35:59.101-08:00No Thanksgiving For Us!!<span style="font-family:Verdana;">Most of you probably know by now that Sailor Bug got sick with a stomach virus this past Monday night. She finally started feeling better on Thanksgiving day. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for our little buggy!! She made a complete 180 degree change from Wednesday morning to Wednesday night and I know it's from all your prayers!! Unfortunately she passed it on to her mommy :( I was in bed ALL DAY Thursday, and poor Cameron and Sailor had to stay home and do nothing. No turkey, no dressing, no giblet gravy, and most importantly... NO PUMPKIN PIE!!! Fortunately for me.... Christmas is just around the corner!! So I will have another chance to make it to YUMMY turkey dinner!! The saddest part for me was that it was Sailor's first Thanksgiving and we missed it!! So I think <strong>next year</strong> we will celebrate her <strong>1st THANKSGIVING!!</strong></span>Mama Lanehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00989536166037420394noreply@blogger.com0
